Oak Woods is the one of the most significant Chicago cemeteries. Located at 1035 E. 67th Street, it is located just south of the University of Chicago and a mile west of Lake Michigan. The grounds include four small lakes on 184 manicured acres. It is the final resting place of many renowned figures, including Mayors Thompson and Washington, crime boss Big Jim Colosimo, Olympian Jesse Owens, suffragist Ida B. Wells, and nuclear physicist Enrico Fermi. The grounds include a Baha'i Prayer Site, the Lincoln the Orator at Gettysburg Statue, the Tower of Memories, the Eternal Light Monument, the Chicago Orphan Asylum Memorial, the Chicago Fire Relic, and large memorials to Union and Confederate soldiers.

Under Oak Woods management, are two Jewish sections predominately utilized by Anshe Sholom B’nai Isreal Congregation and the Congregation Rodfei Zedek. Congregation Rodfei Zedek is active in the nearby Hyde Park neighborhood. Congregation Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel currently resides in a North Side Chicago neighborhood.
